Angry Anderson, Rose Tattoo’s singer with me backstages at Lyon-France during their last European tour : in this second part of the interview Angry is telling us many true stories about his life as musician and songwriter, father and citizen of the world, as a man who kept his anger to fight for more justice. A lucid look about the violence in our society.
I played 1854 from the last album Blood brothers, Assault and Battery (Angry explained the lyrics of this true story), and We can’t be beaten (to learn and sing for the Bastille day : “If ya wanna be in my gang, stand up with me, We’ll start a revolution and make the streets free…!!”).

Rose Tattoo at Lyon-France April 2007 : Angry telling true stories in his songs and with Daï in fusion with their audience !

Angry Anderson, Rose Tattoo’s singer for me alone in the backstages during 1:30 hour, hey !! I propose to you to listen to our passionated conversation, in three parts around 30 minutes each. In this first part we started with a “family story” speaking about The Easybeats‘ two guitar players, George Young and Harry Vanda and their talentuous work at Albert Production’s recording studio with Rose Tattoo and the three others very famous Australian bands AC/DC, The Angels and The Choirboys.
Then we spoke with Angry about his work as songwriter and some of his conversations with Bon Scott, the necessity of the tattoos, the reasons of his violence on stage with the band at their debut…
I opened the show with “Man about town” and some some short extracts from “Sleeping away” two songs from their last album “Blood Brothers” and “Scarred for life” for illustrating by moment the interview.

Mick Cocks Rose Tattoo’s guitarist answered to my questions backstages just before their show at Lyon-France April 5th. The band is touring Europe right now to promote their new album “Blood Brothers“, a tribute to their friends Rose Tattoo’s founding members who passed away : Peter Wells the slide guitarist, Ian Rilen the bassist and Dallas “Digger”Royall the drummer. Mick and Angry Anderson the singer (both founding members too) keep the flames burning with Dai Pritchard (slide guitar) Steve King (bass) and Paul De Marco (drums). I played Black-Eyed Bruiser (Easybeats’song) and Lubricated (a stirring homage to the female masturbation !!) from the new album, Rock and roll outlaw and Nice Boys don’t play rock and roll !
We spoke with Mick about the Bon Scott Celebration Concert at Perth-Western Australia where we connected the first time through Buzz’s phone, their current tour around the whole Europe and their last album : the conversation is friendly, funny, sexy but very serious too !! Enjoy !

I had to travel to Lyon to see Rose Tattoo the famous Australian rock band (No stop at Marseille…) but what a great show : a pure moment of pleasure and a nice meeting with true rockers ! I did an interview backstages during 1:30 hour with the singer Angry Anderson gazing into each other’s eyes…an intensive and passionate exchange !! After our short phone conversation at Perth for the Bon Scott Celebration Concert one month ago I at least met Mick Cocks, Rose Tattoo’s guitarist in flesh : what a fun with him and a little later with the whole band : Steve King the bassist, Paul DeMarco the drummer and Dai Pritchard the slide guitarist. Don’t miss them : they are touring North Europe until the end of the month to promote their last album Blood Brothers ! The PODCAST and others pics are coming SOON !

No rock and roll today but you will not regret it I’m sure…
a sensual, delicate voice will take you far away near the Mediterranean in a amazing creek…Ok, the podcast is audio only but imagine :
Bïa, a beautiful Brazilian woman who sings just for you, the waves beat the rocks, the wind slowly blows (in my mic too sorry !!)…I hope after my last podcasts with the Australian hard rock stars you would appreciate her cool and quiet music too : a big challenge I know !! But, come on !!
Between the songs we spoke about her music, lyrics, being a citizen of the world and in the same time you could hear what you maybe never heard about Brazil : why some Brazilian women feel the necessity to learn how to dance with a teacher, how a lot of families emigrated under the military dictatorship who oppressed the country in the 70’s.
In the case, you couldn’t live without her after listening, you could find her albums on her nice website !

Nice surprise to start the new year : The Angelsband from Australia sent their tour manager Darrel Baird (who was for a few days in the UK) to Marseille to visit me !! I organized for him a meeting with the city hall of Marseille and we contacted some show promoters together to see how it could be possible to bring back concretely the Angels to Europe after 25 years break and for singing at least the song Marseille at Marseille (I played it at the end of this show and I started with Take a long line).
I recorded an interview with Darrel from the first moments of his arrival and during the last night we spent at a punk rock concert at “la machine à coudre” (the Sewing machine). Opening that night organized by Relax and Co : The Venus Fly Trap one girl band from Lyon (center-East of France), then Fredovitch one man band from Bordeaux (South-West of France). In such a wild, crazy and noisy ambience Darrel told me many times how he found that Marseille ROCKS !! And now, How ya goin mate ?

Meltingpod Connections : MELTINGTALKS my other podcast with interviews about society and politics, women, music…was ONE YEAR OLD December 1st ! a interesting podcast in a gay club from Marseille to launch the second year…:) and Happy Birthday to everybody being Sagittarius !

Winston McAnuff : A Jamaïcan musician who didn’t stop to the reggae limits but constantly explores the music under all aspects : jazz, rock, hip hop, transe…and he cooks a very good mixture for us, like the precious magical drink he shared with me in his cosy tour-bus last Saturday night before jumping on stage : NONI + honey and you will stay healthy ! Actually I met “by coïncidence” this strange man at breakfast time in Belfort last July during the rock festival the Eurockéennes; we slept in the same hotel and I improvised a short interview with him without knowing which kind of music he played the night before (I missed his show).
Four months later (Nov 18th) he called me on the phone to invite me to his concert in Marseille at “le Moulin”, promoting a new album with JAVA, a band from Paris : Paris Rockin’ ! I had the feeling to meet a very old friend ! Here are some pictures, the podcast is coming soon with interview and live recording on stage and backstages : Special thanks to le Moulin crew, Winston’s manager (2temps3mouvements) and label (Makasound) who gave me the possibilities with kindness (and a pass all access) to work as I wanted…!! I invite you to Walpurgis night (April 30th) in Berlin-Friedrishain (ex-East Berlin) with A.C.K. a punk band from Frankfurt am Main who is singing lyrics in German very involved in politics specially against racism and fascism. The whole night the ambience was electric hesitating between a ritual civil urban war like for every 1st of May in Berlin-Kreuzberg or only a provocation to the police for fun…I let you dive in the sound and hear the story in both languages English and German. Thanks to Ralf, Markus and Gisbert, my partners in this adventure.
