12/07/05 Noisy Holidays in Hell with the Saints

Yes, it was good to to see the Saints and take holidays in hell with them in the hard land of France in Saint-Bonnet le Château at the festival Oulala ; a little far away from Marseille but I came back home with a precious noisy podcast with an interview of the band backstage and some live songs of the concert…special dedicated to the Saints’ fans and to the festival’s voluntary workers !

Nota : I would like to thank the festival Oulala for the press accreditation to do this report (pics and interviews backstage) Chris Bailey for his agreement to record the Saints live on stage and the Saints & Huggy their tour manager (Pbox) for their kindness.

Thanks Annie for doing this for us. Camera in one hand, mini-disk in the other, how did you manage to hold your drink? Reporter is not easy but the end result you delivered in this show is seamless, it sounds very pleasant and funny. Where do you go next to satisfy our thirst of live music and wild interviews?!..but remember don’t go too far from Marseille ;-)
By the way did it end up raining?

    Salut !

    Hello Annie,

I really enjoyed this episode of Meltingpod. To hear The Saints live in concert and to hear them interviewed was excellent. It was a very relaxed rock chat. Well done Annie!

“Good Noise!” - Rock and Roll with Energy
Greetings again to the princess of Marseilles, who is expanding our realm to the chateaux of the Loire - oo la la! Yes, to hear the modern Saints was enough to make St. Louis wish he lived a few centuries later. I do not drive a Mini-Cooper nor a Cadillac, but have you ‘got no time’ for a Citroen? You did a good job of capturing the excitement of your journey. How are your ears after being near the loudspeaker? Chris est d’ou?

I like the background music that went with the interview. Interesting that you picked up on the various noble titles and pulled out such interesting messages as the Oscar Wilde story. I don’t think that Chris picked up on your noticing the thread of noble titles in his work. He got side-tracked by his boxing rules. But I’m surprised you didn’t move his specific ‘fabulous’ endorsement up front as for your other broadcasts.

Did you ever see the play, “Waiting for Godot?” Beckett would have enjoyed to see his influence.

Did they include you in the pre-concert group hug?
Did you just commute up north for the show? Logistics must not be easy.

Mes homages, chere Madame du Roi du Royaume

  5. Annie Viglielmo Says:

    Hi the king Soleil,
Yes, I moved to the cold North only for the Saints’ music and Chris Bailey is a good meltingpod guest for me : born in Kenya, Irish blood, grew up in Australia, lives in Amsterdam…
For those of you who would like to know more, have a look to my last podcast, review and pictures April 7 th and 9 th : you will find there my first interview with Chris in Marseille and some songs of the Saints’ last album.
BTW : I saw “Waiting for Godot” a long time ago but the theater company was very bad and it was really boring; I was with a friend (born in Montbrison, near St Bonnet le château) who already saw it many times with others companies and he admitted I had no luck for a first live meeting with this text.

    Pascal,
With a minisdisc in one hand and a camera in the other hand I found though a “third” one to drink…After the show Chris came at the table with a little Chablis (my favorite white wine) and another fine white wine from Bourgogne…I couldn’t resist : great taste !
    And it didn’t rain !

Great podcast Annie! I like Chris Bailey third degree subjects. It was a good interview, the way you did that was really interesting. Bravo!
