J’aime beaucoup la musique de mick harvey le morceau d’introduction est superbe
et puis aussi ce qu’il raconte sur la mémoire et la persistance des souvenirs… le sens de la vie c’est pas mal
et surtout on le comprend : not so bad.
C’est pas facile de dialoguer et de poser des questions aussi denses que ce qu’il vient de dire quand on ne s’y attend pas mais c’est bien car tu le laisses parler, c’est passionnant.

I like Mick Harvey’s music a lot…the song of the introduction is superbe and also what he told about the memory and the persistence of memories…the sense of life, it’s interesting.
and above all we understand him : not so bad.
It’s not easy to have a conversation and ask questions as dense as what he is talking about when you’re not prepared to but it’s well done because you let him freely talking, it’s passionating !

Hi Tom, I’m complelty fan of “Bethelridge” covered by Mick Harvey too. I had the opportunity to listen to the original version from Robbie Fulks…far away not so interesting and captivating. I can imagine you with the Swedish blizzard howling outside…:)

Thanks for listening Bob in the bright Brisbane morning sun…we have the experience of all weathers around the world now…including my recording which was done surrounded by the automnal first slight fogs during a quiet night in the South of France country…when I said “it was an atmospheric podcast…”:)

Very pleasant podcast Annie with a great artist! The first song “Bethelridge”, the cover, was like a soundtrack to the blizzard going on outside here right now….The feeling of the song!

I completly agree with you…Mick made the good choice… at the minimum for us with this very personal and beautiful new solo album and in the expectation of the new one. Sometimes one needs to be courageous to stay in our way, without doing bad compromises and I love the people who act like that ! Good luck in Berlin Erika !!

What a delicious interview!

After he left NC&BS, I thought Mick wanted to stop playing music or some stupid thing like that.
It’s so sweet to hear how he talks about life and death. He is honest and spontenious as he did in his new songs. I have never seen him that way. What a man!
Sometimes, life asks us to make some big changes, just in order to stay in our way. And for sure, Mick has done the good choice.

Thank you Christian for your beautiful and like always very sensitive comment. It was such a special moment, I think everybody here felt it…that conversation about Love and Universe was very unexpected…but in harmony with the night.

Happy you like it too Wini…yes try to find his “Sketches from The Book of The Dead”, you will not regret it…just a high sensitivity with beautiful melodies and a great voice which will charm you i’m sure…pure pleasure !

Michaela, thank you ! I don’t know if that interview is my best one but surely the strangest and one of the most honest…I appreciate that a lot with Mick ! and yes the instinct of the dog pushed him to enter that conversation as…the moderator !

This is so great! I really think this is the best one yet, Annie, strangely touching. I’m always interested to see the way people interact with other animals, and the way Mick said hello to the dog was a sign of good character in my book

Very unusual location ! I like it a lot when an event takes place in an odd, unexpected place. That goes for live theatre too. Perhaps that feeling of co-creating a situation “against the grain” let the senses and the mind open up more i think.
Sketches from the Book of the Dead is a gentle homage to friends, family and accounts of times past. It is a great story telling album -in the oral tradition of story telling- set to beautifully delicate harmonies. Humanity and its erring is present throughout presented in a nonjudgemental manner. No-one and nothing we encountered will be left behind but this whole makes up who we are.
Interesting perspective Mick lets himself express about the commodification of love. The appearance of a dog during this exact moment in the conversation let me strait away think of Céline’s writing : “Love is the infinite placed within the reach of poodles. I have my dignity!”.

Personally I really like the way The Bad Seeds are going, although I love The Birthday Party and early Bad Seeds, I think you can only go so far with the avant-garde stuff that Blixa and Harvey seem to advocate. A bit sad to hear that Cave can be a dick to his fellow band members, Mick is a legend and should be treated with respect.
